ABA Sport Chivas de Guadalajara 1996–97 Home Jersey — #10

A serious piece of 90s Chivas history.

This is the 1996–97 Chivas de Guadalajara home shirt, produced by Mexican manufacturer ABA Sport during the final season of the club’s ABA era. The shirt keeps Chivas’ traditional red-and-white stripes but is unmistakably ’90s: oversized polo collar, sublimated ABA Sport pattern throughout the fabric and the huge MEXLUB sponsor across the chest. Kit records confirm ABA Sport as manufacturer and MEXLUB as the primary sponsor for this season. 

The back is where this example gets especially good: the enormous SOL beer graphic over the #10, accompanied by the period-correct league and sponsor graphics on the sleeves. The Sol placement is associated with the Verano ’97 version of Chivas’ kit, when the advertising configuration was changed during the season.
