The Adidas San Jose Earthquakes 2025 Archive Authentic Jersey goes all the way back to the beginning of Major League Soccer in San Jose. Before the club became known as the Earthquakes, it entered MLS’s inaugural 1996 season as the San Jose Clash. This Archive Collection jersey revives that original Clash identity, taking direct inspiration from the club’s wild 1996-era look and rebuilding it as a modern Adidas performance jersey.

The design is pure early-MLS energy. A white base is covered in oversized jagged graphics using teal, red, yellow and dark green, creating the lightning-bolt aesthetic associated with the original Clash. Instead of today’s Earthquakes badge, the chest carries the retro San Jose Clash scorpion crest, while the center sponsor-style graphic spells out “Clash San Jose.” Green Adidas three stripes run across the shoulders, and a green-trimmed V-neck completes the throwback color palette.

The story behind the shirt is what makes it stand out. The Clash were one of the original clubs that launched MLS in 1996, an era when American soccer jerseys weren’t afraid of oversized graphics, unconventional colors and distinctly ’90s designs. The modern Archive jersey intentionally brings that aesthetic back rather than cleaning it up, preserving the lightning graphics, scorpion imagery and original club name while using current Adidas construction.

This example is the Authentic version, built with a slimmer performance-oriented cut and lightweight technical fabric. Mesh ventilation sections are incorporated around the sides and underarms, while the lower front carries Adidas’ authentic product detailing. The mostly clean white back allows the graphic-heavy shoulders and sleeves to remain the focus, with an additional retro-inspired detail positioned beneath the rear neckline.
